  • Rorschach Inkblot Test: The test is used to gain information about the patient’s personality, emotional functioning, thinking patterns, and so on. The test is a type of projective assessment in which mental health doctors provide the patient (likely schizophrenic patients) with 10 ambiguous inkblot images which reveal the patient’s unconscious thoughts, thinking patterns, motives, desires, and more. The psychiatrist then interprets the answers and reaches a decision regarding the person’s mental health.
  • Thematic Apperception Test (TAT): Also known as the picture interpretation technique, the TAT involves describing ambiguous scenes to know about the person’s emotions and personality. The person is shown a series of picture cards which could be anything like images of people, scenes, situations, etc. The patients are then asked to tell a dramatic story for each picture which helps the psychiatrist assess their mental health.
  • Children Apperception Test (CAT): The test is done to assess the child’s responses to standardized stimuli in the form of pictures of animals (CAT-A) or humans (CAT-H) in common situations. This helps the mental health specialist to assess the child’s personality, level of maturity, overall psychological health, and more.
