disease and conditions
At Apollo Sage Hospitals, Bhopal, highly skilled vascular surgeons are competent to treat the complete range of Vascular Surgical disorders. These include
- Aortic Aneurysm: It is a condition in which the walls of the aorta, the largest artery in the body, weakens and bulges outwards, forming a sac-like structure. If left untreated, aortic aneurysms can rupture and be life-threatening.
- Arteriovenous (AV) Fistula: Primarily, it is an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein allowing the blood to flow directly from the artery into the vein, bypassing the capillaries.
- Blood Clots: While blood clots play an essential role in the healing process, they also cause problems when they form inside blood vessels where there is no injury. Reasons for blood clots could berecent surgery, certain medical conditions or an inherited clotting disorder.
- Buerger’sDisease: This rare disease affects the blood vessels in the arms and legs and is characterized by inflammation and clotting of small and medium-sized arteries and veins, leading to obstruction of blood flow and tissue damage.
- Carotid Artery Disease: It is a condition in which carotid arteries, the two large blood vessels that supply blood to the brain, become narrowed or blocked as a result of buildup of plaque, a combination of cholesterol, fat, and other substances that accumulate within the inner walls of the arteries.
- Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT): It is a blood clot that forms in the deep veins of the body, usually in the leg. If untreated for long, it can also lead to complications like pulmonary embolism, which is a potentially life-threatening condition in which a blood clot travels to the lungs.
- Marfan’s Syndrome: It is a genetic disorder affecting the connective tissue in the body, including that of the heart, blood vessels, bones, and eyes.
- Varicose Veins: It refers to enlarged, twisted veins that usually occur in the legs and feet. They are caused by weakened vein valves that allow blood to flow backward and pool in the veins, causing them to bulge and twist.
