On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2026, the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, Apollo Sage Hospitals, Bhopal successfully organized a week-long Voluntary Blood Donation Drive from 14th June to 20th June 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and strengthening the community's healthcare support system.
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony attended by the hospital's esteemed dignitaries. The occasion was graced by the presence of the CEO, Director – Medical Services, and HR Head, who appreciated the noble spirit of voluntary blood donation and encouraged everyone to become regular blood donors. Their inspiring messages highlighted the vital role that voluntary donors play in saving lives and ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients in need.
A special highlight of the event was the felicitation of 47 dedicated voluntary blood donors from Apollo Sage Hospitals who have consistently contributed to this life-saving mission. Their selfless commitment and humanitarian spirit were recognized and celebrated with appreciation certificates and heartfelt gratitude.
The program also featured an informative Myth Buster Session, where experts from the Department of Transfusion Medicine addressed common misconceptions about blood donation, answered participants' queries, and educated attendees about the safety, importance, and health benefits of voluntary blood donation. The interactive session encouraged many first-time donors to come forward with confidence.
Throughout the week-long drive, hospital employees, healthcare professionals, and volunteers actively participated in the campaign. The initiative witnessed an overwhelming response, with 65 voluntary whole blood donations and 4 apheresis platelet donations, making a significant contribution towards ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for patients requiring critical care.
The successful completion of this drive reflects Apollo Sage Hospitals' unwavering commitment to community welfare, preventive healthcare, and the promotion of voluntary blood donation as a social responsibility.
