About Doctor
Dr. S. K. Gupta is one of India’s most accomplished knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgeons, with over 21 years of orthopedic experience. He currently serves as Director, Arthroscopy & Joint Replacement at Apollo Sage Hospital, Bhopal.
He holds the distinction of being the only Indian arthroscopic surgeon till then to receive the prestigious Fellow of the Arthroscopic Association of North America (FAANA, USA). His training spans the UK, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and the USA, including dedicated fellowships in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the Gunma Sports Medicine and Research Centre, Zenshukai Hospital, Japan, and in joint replacement with Johnson & Johnson (DePuy) at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. He completed his MS in Orthopaedics at the prestigious L.T.M.M.C., Sion Hospital, Mumbai, and his MBBS from Pt. J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur, earning gold medals across multiple subjects.
A recognized national and international faculty member in advanced knee and shoulder arthroscopy, Dr. Gupta regularly performs live surgeries and delivers lectures at leading forums including ISAKOS meetings, AANA (USA), and major arthroscopy and sports medicine conferences across Europe and Asia. He is an accredited teacher with ISAKOS and the Indian Arthroscopy Society, runs an accredited fellowship centre training orthopedic fellows, and has received multiple awards for innovative arthroscopic techniques and best video publications in knee ligament and cartilage surgery.
With an experience of oner 21 years with more than 12500 successful surgeries and a very high (more than 98%) patient satisfaction index Dr. Gupta brings deep expertise in elite sports medicine, having served as sports injury specialist for the Indian senior women’s national hockey team and national squads in judo, boxing, kabaddi, and wushu — treating and operating on numerous national and international medal-winning athletes. He has been a visiting sports medicine specialist to the Sports Authority of India, an ex. officer with the National Anti-Doping Agency, and team doctor for international hockey tournaments in Argentina and Thailand, while designing injury prevention and rehabilitation programs for Olympic-level athletes. With more than 10000 regional, national and international level athletes treated and thousands of operated, most of his treated players return to sports and won medals at elite levels.
He has presented scientific papers on meniscus, shoulder, and knee conditions at national and international conferences, chaired and organized numerous advanced knee and shoulder courses, and remains actively engaged in workshops on joint replacement, navigation-assisted arthroplasty, cartilage restoration, and knee preservation. Dr. Gupta holds memberships in leading global and national orthopedic bodies, including ESSKA, ICRS, APKASS, ISAKOS, AANA, the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, the International Federation of Sports Medicine, the Indian Orthopaedic Association, and the Indian Arthroscopy Society — a reflection of his standing in the global orthopedic community.
